Windows 10: I am not receiving text codes, the phone number showing is correct, i dont have enough...

I am locked out of my account, can not remember my password. The text verification has my correct telephone number but i am not receiving the texts. I have tried the other method but I do not have enough information to fill in the questions.

Hi Community members,

Recently I have replaced my simcard with a new one (the same phone number). My account was set for two step verification through text.

I started receiving "cannot send code right now, try again later". As a result, I switched to an authenticator app which works fine on my windows

phone 8.1. The only problem is that I regularly switch my simcard between two phones and each time I have to sign in to Microsoft account and

configure the authenticator app to work on the other phone, and, vice versa. With receiving codes through text messages I did not have this problem.

My question is why I cannot receive codes through text anymore, and whether changing the simcard might have caused this (although it is the same

phone number), and, finally, how can this be fixed?

Yes, correct, but it also shows you from which number you received the text, when there is more than one mobile number for the same contact.

 

Microsoft account and phone number linked

Microsoft sends a text to the phone number with a code that you then have to enter to recover your password. They have to be able to receive the actual text message, not just have the phone number.
