Windows 10: I am the organiser of my family group but it wont allow me to leave, just pops up with an...

We need to connect me to a different family group to share word subscription but i cant leave the current familyGroup and im the organiser.

Can't add family organiser to family group

Hi, when trying to add a family member as an organiser to my family group I send the invite and an acknowledgement screen that states "Invitation sent to their email. When they accept, they'll join your family."

I logged out and logged back in with their MSA, went to their email and accepted the invitation. I was then presented with the following:

You haven't joined the family yet!

To join this family, you’ll need to leave the Microsoft family you’re already in.

Got it

Once you click "Got it" you just get a screen listing the members of the family. No instructions, no subsequent actions to take, nothing.

I've also tried clicking 'accept now' in my own account on the invitation page; I'm invited to login to their account, I see a summary screen listing the Organiser user profile details and click 'Yes' at the bottom. I then receive the error page:

" something went wrong, please try refreshing the page or try again later'

I've tried this multiple times without success!!

 

Family Organizer Leaving Family Group

Hello Lee Wilfert,

Glad to see you in Microsoft Community.

• If Mother was the administrator of the Family Group, you can exit the Family Group directly, and Mother will automatically become the Family Group organizer.
  
  If you want to stay in the Family Group, you need to rejoin, either as an administrator or as a regular Family Group member.
  
  Visit Getting started with Microsoft Family Safety for more details.
  

• If Mother was already a member of the Family Group, you need to remove her from the Family Group, then add it again, and need to select "Administrator" when selecting the role.
  

Meanwhile, you can dissolve the Family Group, and then let the new organizer send an invitation to re-establish the Family Group. Visit Leave family group or remove members (microsoft.com) for more details.

Leave a microsoft family group if the organiser lost the account...

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft community.

We understand that you are in a family group with a child's account, which cannot be disbanded due to the organizer's forgotten password. If you are currently an adult, please sign in to Microsoft account with your account. If you are an underage account, pull the page down to the bottom and there will be a pop-up window that will appear. In the pop-up window, select "Learn more about parental/guardian consent", select "Update account information", enter your correct date of birth, enter your signature (which should be the same as your username, including spaces), and click Update.

Once the update is complete and you are no longer a child, you can confirm by logging in to family.microsoft.com, clicking next to your name, then selecting "Leave Family Group" and selecting "Delete". However, please note that for family groups, there must be an organizer and a member in order to become a group ("Before leaving, make sure that your family group has at least one organizer and one family member. Family groups without an organizer and at least one other family member will be deleted.
