Windows 10: I am unable to access my two email accounts since a new purchase of computer with Windows...

I purchased a new computer with Windows 11 where my old computer sued Windows 10. Issues with passwords not being accepted.

Unable to access MS account

Not strictly MS office.

I'm having trouble accessing my MS account. I rarely use it, and do not use it to log in to my computer. I've had a couple of emails suggesting that there has been some unusual activity on it (from Russia!), and a security alert. These do seem genuine emails. However, I have tried to access the account to see the activity, but I have been unable to log in. It keeps prompting me for the password, and even when I have (apparently) successfully changed it, it then refuses to allow access saying that the password is incorrect. When changing the password, I have tried to put in the same one as previously entered, but it says that I cannot use it as it has already been used before. This would suggest that it has accepted the previously entered new password, but will now not accept it. I don't understand.

Unauthorized Emails from my account?

It is more than likely that your email account was hacked, either by a virus sniffing your password, or just simply hacked.

Either way, change your password on your email account. Unfortunately the damage by already be done. They already have your contact list and your email address associated with that contact list. There is nothing stopping them from sending out emails using their own SMTP servers to everyone on your contact list and claiming the emails are from your email address. They don't actually have to have access to your yahoo account or even any yahoo server to send emails to people that come from your address.

 

Unable to access "People" or "Email & Accounts"

Having some major issues with my HTC Surround after one month of trouble-free operation (except for the occasional Marketplace fail to open).

Symptoms:

• Unable to open Email & Accounts or People, from live tiles, settings, or list.
• Messaging is blank, unable to text.
• Unable to map or ring phone from Windows Live on computer. All contacts visible online.
• Able to manually enter phone number and make calls, but no contacts.
• Internet seems to work fine via wifi & network.

I did not download any apps or make any other changes beyond deleting a few pictures this morning. Attempted power cycle / soft reset, no luck.

Any ideas / suggestions?
