Windows 10: I am unable to activate Windows on a new device.

I am unable to activate Windows. I had to reinstall Windows, and after reinstalling the operating system, I can’t activate the product key on the new Windows system. I am receiving the error code 0xC004C020: "We can’t activate Windows on this device because the product key has already been used on another device." I did not deactivate the key on the previous OS, and I no longer have access to the previous Windows installation. The key was purchased as a digital edition. I have the receipt and proof of purchase.

I put a new motherboard, ram and cpu into my computer and now it says I am unable to activate windows. I go to settings>activation>troubleshoot>I changed hardware on this device recently>I choose my computer from the list>activate and it says "unable to
activate windows

To assist you better, I would like to ask some questions:

• What is the make and model of your computer?
• Is the sound device recognized by other applications?
• Are you able to set the audio device as output for audio players?

I suggest you to run the Sound troubleshooter by following the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Type “troubleshooting” in search box and type Enter.
• Click on View All on top left corner.
• Click on Playing sound from the list and follow the prompts for troubleshooting.

Also, suggest you to check if the device is listed in playback devices.

• Type sound in the search box and press Enter.
• Check if the device is listed under Playback tab.

If it won't install the key it's likely the wrong version (like "Pro N" etc) - check the edition...
