  3. Unable to login or enter safe mode after update.

    Hello,

I regret the inconvenience caused to you as you are unable to access the Safe mode on your device after installing the latest update. Do not worry we will help you with this issue.

I would like to know the details below to assist you better.

    • Did you make any changes other than Windows Updates?

    • Which was the latest Windows Update (KB number) installed on your device?

    • Have you connected any external devices other than mouse and keyboard?

I suggest you disconnect all external devices if you have connected any, hard reboot the device and check if you are able to login to the computer.

Try the below troubleshooting steps and check if it helps you to access the operating system.

    Method 1: Disable
    automatic restart after failure

I suggest you refer the below article and follow the section Disable automatic restart after failure.

Windows Startup Settings - Microsoft Support

(Applies to Windows 10 as well)

    If the issue still persist,

Method 2: I suggest you to try automatic repairing the Windows and check if it helps.

Step 1: Download the Windows 10 ISO and create a Media Creation tool and then perform Automatic Repair.

Refer to the following link: Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool

(Refer to the section "Installing Windows 10 using the media creation tool” in the above article for creating the tool).

Step 2: After creating the tool perform an Automatic Repair.

I would like to inform that, if your Windows 10 is not able to boot or startup, Automatic Repair will come into action and try to diagnose and fix the issue. It will scan system files, registry settings, configuration settings and
more and try to fix the problem on its own, automatically.

    Perform the Automatic repair:

    • When your computer starts, wait for the manufacturer logo to check the option for boot menu, it will usually be
      F12.
    • The boot menu key might differ with each manufacturer. If you are unable to find the boot menu key, you may refer the user manual.
    • Restart the computer, when the manufacturer's logo is displayed, keep pressing the
Boot menu option key to enter the boot menu and change the boot option to
      CD\DVD ROM.
    • After you boot your computer using Windows 10 DVD, a black screen appears with gray text "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD". Press any key.
    • Select the correct time and Keyboard type.
    • Click Repair your computer in the lower left corner
    • Click on Troubleshooting, advanced option and then click
      Automatic repair.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us with more information and we’d be happy to help.

  4. I am unable to enter in automatic repair mode after trying to much force restart

Automatic repair, says wrong password and cant open cd

    Hi Patrik Husander Larsson,

Welcome to the Microsoft community and thank you for asking your question in the community!

Based on your description, I understand that you are unable to start Auto Repair and then you are prompted with an incorrect password, and you think that this may be due to the update you installed that is preventing you from starting. Here I suggest you try to enter safe mode to uninstall the update, here are the steps to enter safe mode:

    • When you turn on the computer, press and hold the power button (for about 5 seconds). (Repeat this action more than 2 times until you see the words "Preparing Automatic Repair")

    • Press the Advanced Options button.

    • Press the Troubleshoot button.

    • Press the Advanced Options button.

    • Press the Startup Settings button

    • Press the Restart button.

    • Press "4" for Safe Mode.

After entering Safe Mode and opening "Programs and Features", click on "View Installed Updates" in the upper left corner, which is where all the automatically installed Windows updates are. Click "Installation time" to sort by time, select the latest update, click "Uninstall". After uninstallation, restart the computer, if we uninstalled the right things affecting the system, then this time should have been able to enter the system normally.

Please let me know if I have misunderstood. Tell us the results and we will get back to you as soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,
