Windows 10: I am unable to sign into Authenticator after changing my Google password on my phone

Basically what the question says - I changed my Google password and am now unable to verify my account even when I use the correct password. It is a similar issue with my Google maps app. Additionally I am unable to log into my Google mail - all of this is from my phone. I can log into them on my computer.

I believe they’re asking you to open the Google authentication app on your phone, you’d then click yes to confirm it is you.
This is usually due to having two-factor authentication on your account.
If you have never set this up or have a mobile phone connected to your account then please post back.

Change your password

1. Open your Google Account. You might need to sign in.
2. Under 'Sign-in & security', select Signing in to Google.
3. Choose Password. You might need to sign in again.
4. Enter your new password, then select Change Password.

Can you access your Google account or does that give the same message?

 

Google Apps Password Problem? Unauthorized Entry Into PCs & Phones

Hi boweasel.

I'm unfamiliar with such an app. In any event I'm sure the answer is a complete review of her account profile and likely the removal of this app. Sure it is not the authenticator app that gives you six digit codes.

Sign into your sister email on a computer. In the upper right is either her picture or a character representing her name right beside the nine dots. Click once on this and then click google account. On the left of the page that opens click security.

Then go through and change password, enable two step verification using her cell as the number. When offered to generate 10 new backup codes do so to cancel out old codes that may have been generated.

Blow away all app passwords.

Then open recovery phone and make sure the correct numbers are there.

Same with recovery email, make sure only the email accounts she wants are list. (Be sure he doesn't have access to this recovery account)





Scroll down and go through each section like your devices, aps with access, etc.

Pay attention to other accounts like her Playstore account or other accounts where they may ask security questions or birthdates.

I would enable two step everywhere with her cell as the verify text number.

As to the windows device it might be time for a clean install. I would carefully scan list of installed apps. Start > Settings >apps.

Once this is all completed you may need to generate an app password to use in email on phone. Generate it on this same page.

Well this morning before I could go over the suggestions once again when I opened up gmail I was directed to a page that said, "Control, protect, and secure your account, all in one place." It is a page I have seen in the past and forgetful that I am I believe I have mostly ignored it or perhaps I did in fact take a look at it one time. I checked the page in another browser window just to make sure it was legit and by all accounts it was. That page then led me to another page that said, "Sign-in & security and Password & sign-in method." and from there it was very easy to change my password. Almost too easy : ) (Look now I'm complaining) Perhaps I should look further into Two Step Authentication. Does anyone know off hand if Two Step Authentication can be set up without using my linked phone number and without turning my phone on to receive a text message with an authentication code? Thanks.
