I am unable to upgrade the RAM memory because Microsoft Windows 10 Home (32-bit) has a 4GB memory limitation

The maximum amount of memory that any 32-bit software can address is 2 raised to the 32nd power. That is roughly 4 GB.

Memory modules should be installed in pairs. Therefore, you are not benefiting from the full 3 GB of RAM that you installed.

As Martmcd explained, if you have a 64-bit computer, you can install the 64-bit edition of Windows 10. 64-bit software can address an amount of memory equal to 2 raised to the 64th power. That's an astronomical amount of memory.

unable to use >4GB RAM- 32 bit problems remain in W10

    Hi,

I had windows 7 basic 32 bit. I was unable to use my installed 5 GB RAM because 32 bit does not allow > 4 GB RAM.
This is a 1990s problem in windows.

After upgrading to windows 10, my system is still running in 32 bit!
Hence, I still cant use the extra 1 Gb RAM, so I cant think about upgrading to my motherboard max of 8 GB.

Can I upgrade to 64 bit windows 10?

    Any cost for it?

    Thanx
