I’m attempting to update my Windows 10 – (Home) - Version 1511

The Windows 10 Media Creation Tool, operates downloads the updates, but the install process runs indefinitely without indication of progress.
Gave up after 7:00 Hours.

Another suggestion was to download and run the latest Windows ISO file for Windows 10.
This downloaded fine and began to install with the completion time becoming longer & longer.
The 99% completion sat for 5 hrs with no apparent completion.
Please note my C drive has stacks of space.

I then attempted to implement the: Deployment Image Servicing and Management
procedure on a troubleshooting file listed below*with the return message for each instruction entered:error 87–
“unknown option” for all requested instruction lines.

I tried to make sense of the windows\ DSIM.exe file which downloaded into a huge 600+page PDF file
which this portal doesn't permit me to attach. I can make no sense of it.

Further down the same suggested troubleshooting was instructions to:
Delete the Software Distribution Folder. Part of the was through this procedure came back the screen message “Access Denied “

Scrolling on down through the same page was the bottom line

"Sometimes a stubborn cumulative update can be problem, it sits there for hours and won't budge. If none of the above helps, you can try downloading the update directly using the
Microsoft Update Catalog then install it manually."

For want of where to go next to update perhaps I should try a couple of updates at a time instead of more than 3.5 gigbyte chunks.
To lift me from my Window 10 Home version 1511 status is there a list of progressional updates from my last one KB3150513 of October 2016 or is there still something corrupted in my machine?
I have spent hours on this down loaded over 12gig with no success.

I attempted to reset my laptop, and about 70% through, it said the reset can't be completed. I clicked continue and now it just keeps restarting and showing HP, then resetting. I really just wanna get it working again. Any help?
