Windows 10: i been having dwm.exe crashes when i game

DWM (Desktop Window Manager) crashes while gaming

I have KB5020044 installed, as well as all other mandatory and optional updates.

It is NOT a problem with the video card hardware:

1. Started a game --> DWM crash after a few minutes

2. Rebooted and started a Furmark test

-- Resolution: 3440 x 1440, same as is used in the games

-- Left it running for one hour without any problems

-- GPU temp stable at ~71 degrees the whole test and fans running at ~3500 rpm, same as in the resource intensive games

3. Exited Furmark and started a game --> DWM crash after two minutes

Also ran various other Furmark tests with different settings for extended time periods without any problems.

The internet is full of examples and complaints about DWM crashes during gaming, some examples:

Some people claim to have solved it by plugging in an Xbox controller and updating the drivers for it. However, I do not have one.

It could well be that this problem is connected to all the different Xbox garbage that is bundled with Windows these days, but there is no resolution to be found anywhere, and no apparent recognition from Microsoft that this problem even exists.

I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
