    I have been battling a hacker for many months I believe. They have drove my son from his brand new home and now I’m staying here paying his mortgage for past 5 months. I didn’t believe him at first but now not so sure. I would factory reset the router almost every day. Use the netgear genie with my lap laptop and worked few times then they were in to my laptop and locked it up. I purchased new ssd. Anyway I was using my laptop today on internet connected to the hotspot on my mobile. I was connected via bluetooth when all sudden another device popped up it said either remote device or remotely

    I believe I was hacked.

    I believe I've been hacked by the Micro soft message alert. I my computer now comprimised? I allowed this person to access my computer. I did not agree to any repairs or pay any money. Please advise me on what to expect. Thank you

    What Micro soft message alert?

    Are you referring to a reply you received from the Community advising you to phone a Microsoft support person?

    If so, that was a SCAM and the poster has been banned.

    Hello Greg

    thank you for your response and the great information you provided.

    I use two step authentication for my email account and all important web sites. I also use the full version of Malwarebytes to protect my computer.

    But I will do the scans you suggested AdwCleaner and Limewire.com and let you know the results.

    I am worried though that the webcam installed on my laptop could have been hacked. I never use it and forgot about it, so never disabled it.

    Any suggestions as to find if it was actually hacked?
