    We have logged into our own Microsoft account. However when we start it up it still reads the name John-Hardy rather than my sons name.

    We appreciate you getting back to us. To change the cmd name, we suggest that you follow this steps:

    • Open a Command Prompt (Adimin) window: Win+X, A, Alt+Y
    • Then run the following command to change your computer name to Donner: WMIC ComputerSystem where Name=COMPUTER-NAME call Rename Name=NewName
    • Reboot your PC.
    • Try to run ipconfig / all command, you should find that the Host Name in Windows IP Configuration list has been changed to the new name.

    Changing the user name for the PC

    Hi I want to give my PC to my son, it is a fully legal and updated PC but with my "user" name. All of the installed MS software is on that PC only and the non MS software has been uninstalled. How do I get the PC changed to my son's "user name" and be seen as valid for updates etc. Thanks for any help. Regards Daniel
