    New Compute, Windows 10 (upgrade) Activation Transfer

    It depends on how Windows 10 was originally configured on your computer.

    If its a full retail store bought license online or offline, it is transferable to a new computer or motherboard.

    If its the free upgrade from a retail store bought Windows 7 or Windows 8 license, it is transferable to a new computer or motherboard.

    If its the free upgrade from a OEM preinstalled Windows 7 or Windows 8 license, it is NOT transferable to a new computer or motherboard.

    Windows 10 Pro upgrade. Can I transfer it to my new computer?

    My old computer had Windows 10 Pro and it died. I bought a new one with Windows 10 home already installed. Can I transfer my $99 Pro upgrade purchase from the old computer to the new computer?

    Ok, so I paid the $99 to upgrade my laptop from windows 10 home to pro. I bought the upgrade in the windows store because that's the only way I figured I could do it.

    If that laptop dies and I get a new laptop, will I be able to transfer that upgrade? What if the laptop dies and Lenovo sends me a new one? Will the new one be entitled to my upgrade to windows 10 pro?
