Windows 10: I can cast all devices on my desktop PC, but cannot cast my desktop PC on any device...

Hey. I got this weird issue. I am able to cast my desktop PC, phone and tablet to my laptop. But I am not able to cast any device on my desktop PC. After pressing win+k, my desktop cannot find any device and I have no idea why, since I can clearly cast all my devices to my desktop PC. I reinstalled wifi drivers, graphic drivers, optional wired display feature, did the troubleshooter which found absolutely no issue, I changed wifi sources, I allowed casting in firewall both in public and private networks, yet my desktop can't find a single device to cast display onto. Help with Cast to Device

I already tried this. It kinda works. Some folders now offer cast to device, but others in the same directory that contain similar files do not. Individual Files have the option. A folder on my desktop with mp3s. Has the option, but another folder on my desktop, also with mp3s doesnt have the option.

Edit: so i compared the two folders properties. Under the Customize Tab, under the heading that says"what kind of folder do you want? optimize this folder for:"

the folder that had no cast to device menu was set to general items, The folder that did have cast to device menu was optimized for Music. So apparently that has something to do with which folders can be cast to device. You also cant use the right click cast to device option when just viewing the files in explorer when in the This PC view.

 

Cast to Device (TV) fails: Unexpected Device Error

Doing a little searching reveals that the only way to cast music directly from my PC to a TV would require me to use the Chrome browser and select Cast to ChromeCast enabled device. I don't have one of those so that way is out. However, Casting to my TV using Miracast does work so is my only option. On PC Right-click MP3 file Select Cast to Device Select the SmartTV in the list Media Player launches and starts playing MP3 On TV PC desktop shows on screen Audio from MP3 is heard on TV speakers Note, if sound from MP3 plays is heard on PC instead of TV then switch the audio output from Speakers to Digital Output.
