Windows 10: I can no longer use Photo app to view files in my card reader, and scroll through

Discus and support I can no longer use Photo app to view files in my card reader, and scroll through in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I can no longer use Photo app to view files in my card reader, I can open one, but then the next image will be from my pc, so I cannot scroll through,...     I can no longer use Photo app to view files in my card reader, and scroll through


    I can no longer use Photo app to view files in my card reader, I can open one, but then the next image will be from my pc, so I cannot scroll through, or navigate using direction arrows. My photo app was recently updated, but it was still able to access it properly, but has stopped

    Hi Sam,

    To isolate this concern, have you tried adding the card reader to folder as the source file in Photo app? If no, please add it by following the steps below:

    • Open Photo app.
    • Go to Settings.
    • Click Add a folder under Sources.
    • Choose the card reader folder.
    • Click Add this folder to Pictures.

    Once done, please check if you can now access the card reader photos.

    Windows10 Photo app and card reader

    When I upgrader to Windows 10 my SD card reader did not work. I have updated thedriver and it is now readable however when I insert a card the photo app launches but a dialoge box launches telling me to connect a device. which suggests the app cannot see
    the card reader. Any ideas why

    SD card/SD card reader no longer working

    Bradleyb, in your Device Manager do you have anything listed in Storage Controllers? I get an entry for MMC/SD. I just checked a 1GB SD card and a 4GB SDHC card, both worked in File Explorer to show their contents.

    I can no longer use Photo app to view files in my card reader, and scroll through [​IMG]


    Side note: A caveat for such cards is that if they are to be used in a camera they need to be formatted in the camera, not in Windows.
