Windows 10: I can not find the COM5 port in the prompt.

Discus and support I can not find the COM5 port in the prompt. in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I see the COM port colored as hidden in device manager.Also i can not find it in the prompt using "mode".     I can not find the COM5 port in the prompt.


    I see the COM port colored as hidden in device manager.Also i can not find it in the prompt using "mode". It seems it does not exist.It shows only the two virtual ports.What is the problem?Thank you in advance.

    COM Port on HP Spectre x360 Windows 10 Pro

    I need to download some firmware updates on a scan converter from my HP Spectre x360 . The scan converter has a RS 232 serial port and an ETHERNET port. I can use either for downloading. The only COM Ports on the HP are Bluetooth (COM4) and (COM5). Any
    suggestions as to how I can accomplish this with the HP?

    Hi Tomale,

    Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

    Since all the USB ports are working and the problem is with the USB 3.0 port in the right side of the laptop, then this issue is with that particular port.

    You can contact the manufacture of the laptop to get it done.

    As a workaround, I suggest you to Run Hardware troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    Follow these steps to run hardware troubleshooter.

    • Type troubleshooting
      in search box.
    • Select view all on the top left pane.
    • Click on Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter and follow the prompts to
      run the troubleshooter.

    can't create com port bluetooth

    Can't create com5 outgoing port on htc phone with WM6.1 bluetooth gps needs com5. Worked fine with xv6700 WM 5, and xv900 WM6.0
