Windows 10: I can not get files to save from word to my flash drive

Every timeI try to save the document to my USB drive I can not. I tells me unable to save file and then kicks out my USB port. I am a college student and need these files to complete courses. The computer tells me that it does not recognize my USB drive then when I go to save it loads for a minute and then kicks me out. I have tried several methods such as device manager and completely re-downloading office nothing is working.

You cannot save files into the Word application itself

Insert that USB

Open Windows File Explorer (folder icon on your Taskbar

On the left, click 'This PC

On the right, double click that flash drive

Select those Word files and drag them into the Documents folder in the left pane of File Explorer

Close File Explorer

Then open Word and choose File - Open

Navigate to your Documents folder and you should be able to open those files form there

Once you have opened those files, they will appear on the Recent File list of Word and you can then open them from that list . ..
