Windows 10: I can not get the windows time service to start. I am getting a 1297 error

It tells me to go to service.msc and secpol.msc. I have made a few changes there without success

Wlan AutoConfig service Errors 999/1069/1297

Hey, I'm having trouble using my desktop to connect to my WiFi.

I've narrowed it down to the WLAN AutoConfig service (won't start) I've tried changing the account it logs in as to the Admin on my PC but I get Error 1069 "The service did not start due to login failure" as well as my personal account, (which is also an
Admin) and get error 1297 "A privilege that the service requires to function properly does not exist in the service account configuration...." Following the 1297, I tried looking for secpol.msc like it suggested, and also gpedit.msc to change that so that
I could fix the error. But I don't have those because I purchased Windows 10 Home. I'm positive it's not my wireless adaptor because I tested it on several other computers connecting to the same network and had no issues. I'm honestly stuck. I tried calling
tech support also, three times. It accomplished nothing. The last time, I waited roughly 15-20 minutes before they hung up on me.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

• What exactly happens when you try to turn on the service?
• What is the complete error message/ error code of this issue?
• Have you made any changes to the operating system prior to this issue?

Method 1: I suggest you to run a SFC scan and check if it helps.

System File Checkeris a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

Follow the below steps:

• Right click on the Start button, click on
  Command Prompt (Admin).
• Type “sfc /scannow” without the quotes and hit
  Enter.
• After the scan, restart the computer and check for the issue.

Note: If you are not able to repair some files after performing SFC scan, I suggest you to refer to the point 3 “Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to
fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log”. Under the section “Run the System File Checker tool (SFC.exe)” to repair the corrupted files after performing SFC scan.

Method 2: I suggest you to Restart Windows Time Service and check if it helps.

Windows Time Service maintains date and time synchronization on all clients and servers in the network. If this service is stopped date and time synchronization will be unavailable. If this service is disabled,
any services that explicitly depends on it will fail to start.

Step 1: Stop the service:

• Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard and type
  services.msc, Services window gets opened.
• Search for Windows Time service and stop.
• To do so, right click on each service select Stop
• Restart the device.

Step 2: Start the service and set it to automatic:

• Press Windows Key + R on the keyboard and type
  services.msc, Services window gets opened.
• Search for Windows Time service, right click on it and click on
  Properties.
• Start the service, set
  Startup type to Automatic.

Windows Time Service not running and did not update with time change

I tried the first set of steps on that link and I get a message - unable to start the windows time service. This same message appears with any of the 3 services listed




if I try the 2nd option and this is what I get

trying the 3rd option gives me the message that time synchronization failed
