Windows 10: I can not play a CD in my DVD drive. keeps asking to insert a disc

Hello, I am trying to play a cd in my DVD drive. About two months ago , I was able but now it will not work. I have tried to uninstall the device and tried to update drivers it is all the same. CD/DVD inserted in drive, but get "No Disc in Drive Message"

I have Cyberlink’s Media Suite 12 resident on a Hewlett-Packard Envy TS 17 Notebook laptop equipped with an HP built-in drive (CDDVDVW SU-208CB) that will access CD's and DVD's. Windows 10 is the OS and up-to-date. The CD/DVD drive has always
worked very well until recently. Now, when I attempt to play a DVD using Cyberlink PowerDVD I receive the message "No disc in drive E:" even though there is indeed a disk.
This problem appears to have materialized following a series of Windows 10 updates based on hundreds of similar complaints from other individuals that I found in Internet tech forums.
However, there is no problem playing a CD - that works fine.
The 20 DVD discs that I’ve attempted to view all work fine in other DVD players (and were previously viewable in PowerDVD), so there’s nothing wrong with the DVDs.
I have the same problem using VLC Media Player – it will not recognize the presence of the disc.
I ran diagnostics on the drive, and was told that no problems were detected.
So, I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware problem. I tried various suggestions I found in tech forums to resolve the issue, but none worked.
This is consistent with the experience of other individuals as well.
I turned to Cyberlink as well, and their suggestion was to reinstall all of the Cyberlink software.
That did not clear up the problem. So, I do not think this is Cyberlink's issue.
I have spent many hours trying to resolve the issue to no avail, so I'm hoping the Microsoft Community might offer a solution.
Please keep in mind that I am a 72-year-old non technical person when it comes to this type of stuff, so any suggestions need to be clear, concise and in a step-by-step format.

The DVD drive was not showing not recognised.

i have followed steps but still not working.

the DVDs/cd drive is shown in file manager and it shows it to be working correctly but when a cd/ dvd disc is inserted it is still not recognised.

If if I double click on the drive in file manager the disc is ejected and I am asked to insert a disc.

Any further suggestions?
