I accidently disabled virtual ethernet 2 connection off of networks settings screen. now i cant activate wifi hot spot on my hp15 windows 10 laptop. im trying to share my wifi thru my laptop to other devices. i press turn on hotspot and it says sorry we
cannot start hotspot. how do i reactivate the virtual network to share wifi hotspot?

 

Not able to find hotspot while sharing ethernet connection.

Hi,

this week i got a new laptop(Acer aspire 7 - A715-42G). In my room, the only way I can connect to internet is via Ethernet cable, so I need to create hotspot to access internet wirelessly with my phone(Realme 6). The hotspot worked well for couple of days, but it changed recently. There might have been a windows update, but I'm not sure. Now, I can turn on the hotspot while I'm connected to ethernet, but my phone can't find it. But when I connect my laptop to WiFi, the hotspot works just fine.

I tried this with different ethernet connections but got the same results. Otherwise, my ethernet works fine.

I tried everything listed in the first reply here(reinstalling drivers, checking hotspot settings,...), but nothing changed:

I still can't find the hotspot when I'm sharing ethernet connection. (A friend of mine with the same laptop has the same problem)

Problems sharing internet with hotspot


I've created hosted network with this command
NETSH WLAN set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Your_SSID key=Your_Passphrase
then activated it like this
netsh wlan start hostednetwork


Now i am supposed to share Ethernet internet with this hotspot interface, but there is no drop-down menu in sharing option. There is just text field which can't be edited (or drop-down with one item, but no arrow) and it says Wi-Fi (thats the name of my wireless adapter). But I don't want to share internet with Wifi adapter, I need hotspot adapter.

Any idea how to make the hotspot adapter show-up in the drop-down so I can select it?
