Windows 10: I can only sign into my PC using a temporary local account

Hello,I wanted to change the name of my user profile folder on my PC, as I have changed my name and am slowly in the process of updating my online accounts to match. I thought it would be an easy task, but met some difficulties.I followed this tutorial: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/change-name-of-user-profile-folder-in-windows-11.2133/However, while I was able to change the name of my user profile folder, I am now only able to sign into my PC with a temporary local account. None of my data has been erased, as I can see all of it present in the user profile folder, along with my preferenc

Local account installation question

I'm fairly certain that Skip this step was available in 10.0.130 - the workaround in Step 20 (back button) is no longer required.

The currently known, as of 10.0.130, ways to create a Local account sign-in are

• Skip this step at the MS account creation phase
• No Internet connection during the install
• static IP (post# 2 by Fragment) - New (to me anyway)

 

message "you are signed in with a temporary profile"

Hello,

If you verified that the account is temporary, kindly restart your PC and sign in again. This should remove the temporary account and your files and settings should be available again.

Notes:

• You might need to restart your PC more than once before you can see your files and settings again.
• You should back up everything you worked on to an external drive, or it will be deleted when you sign out of the temporary account.

If that didn't help, we suggest performing the suggestion posted by Vijay B in this
thread and see if it makes any difference.

"Sign in with local account" button is not working.

Failure to sign in to your local account can be related to how the user permission is configured on your device. To effectively assist you with your concern, we'd like to ask the following:

• Which Windows build version is running on your device? Type winver
  in the search box and press Enter to help you identify.
• Have you made any recent changes on your device prior to your concern?

As an initial step, we suggest that you create a new user and check if you'll be able to sign in to your local account from there. To create a new user, you can follow the steps provided on this

link.
