Why can I see a preview of some doc's and pdf files, but some I can't. I've searched extensively, often finding the same question, but none of the offered solutions fixed the problem.

Searching in PDF?

Hey guys, I need to look up a large list of data from a PDF file, basically just to check if each entry of the list is in the pdf. Is there some way to do this without having to check one by one?

 

Delete and Cut Files with Preview Pane Open

• Have you tried to delete the pdf file in preview panel?
• What exactly happens when try to delete the pdf file?

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• 
  Open File Explorer.
  
• 
  Select View and click on preview panel.
  
• 
  Select the pdf file.
  
• 
  At the right corner you will be able to see preview panel.
  
• 
  You can right click on it and delete the files.

Explorer not showing previews of any files (PDF, DOC, XLS, txt) Except images: JPG/PNG/etc.

NOTE: Please do not respond with the usual steps, all have already been taken.

Explorer Preview Pane is not showing previews of any files (PDF, DOC, XLS, txt) Except JPG and PNG.

It does show thumbnails correctly with the first page for all file types when in icon view.

I use Adobe Acrobat 10 on Windows 10 with Office 2021 with a single monitor.

Since it affects all file except images, I do not believe additional steps with Adobe will be successful.

It has been happening for about at least a year. The problem has persisted through an Office Upgrade.

I have troubleshot extensively and seek some additional help. The following have been tried:

-Adobe reader "Enable PDF thumbnails previews" unchecked & re-checked.

-Explorer: Preview pane turned off/on

-Explorer: Show preview handlers in preview pane checked

-Explorer: Always show icons, never thumbnails option is off

-Explorer: ‘Open File Explorer to’ under the General tab changed from “quick access” to “this pc”

-Explorer: General “Restore defaults” and View “Restore defaults”

-Explorer: In Main Pane, changing view to S/M/L icons or details has no effect. NOTE the icons shown are all page 1 of the doc with the icon showing file type!

-Windows Control Panel/Advanced system settings changed to “Adjust for best appearance” and back.

-Powertoys was installed and all pdf view options checked.



None of the above steps has worked.
