Windows 10: I can suddenly only hear voices but not music on iPlayer, YouTube etc., and not even voices...

Is anyone else having issues with YouTube, iPlayer etc., where you can hear people talking but not music? And when there is background music it then also mutes the voices? Tested that bit on things I've watched before, where I know where there should be music AND voice. When watching iPlayer, the theme music for example to the programme doesn't play, and in-episode incidental music doesn't play either, but voices also stop when there is music simultaneous to speech. Same with YouTube - no music, only speech, and the speech only works if there is no simultaneous background music. It only st

Louder music over voice

On videos, I hear loud music that covers the voice sounds. How do I turn down the music so I can hear the voice in the video?

Cortana not hearing voice commands

2. Does the microphone work with other apps such as Skype?

3. Have you tried using "Learn my voice" settings?

Method 1:

I suggest you to try to turn Cortana off and then try turning it on back and check if she talks. Refer to the steps below to turn Off and On Cortana:

• Open Cortana.
• Click the hamburger button in the top left of the window.
• Go to Settings and click on off.
• Follow the same steps to turn it on.
• Check if issue persists.

Method 2:

I suggest you to run the Recording Audio
troubleshooter and check if it helps.

• Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click on Recording Audio.
• Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
• Check if issue persists.
