Windows 10: I cannot access multiple files due i have not the adecuated permissions.

Hello, i just started my computer and I saw some files have not their symbol anymore. When i try to execute them it desplays this error: The item referenced by this shortcut cannot be accessed. You may not have the proper permissions. Also i want to specify that its my personal computer. Im very confused because it all happened because a normal restart. Before that, everything was fine.Thank you for your attention

I have a file i need to run on Windows 7 Home Premium. I get the error message saying "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

So I right click and choose Properties to access the permissions but I cannot. In the Security tab I get a message saying, " You do not have permission to view or edit this objects permission settings.".

Next I boot into the Windows 7 Hidden Administrator Mode - and even with this I get all the same error messages.

Please help me as I really need to run This file.

How was the files backed up, using File history or Backup and Restore?

This issue might have occurred due to lack of permissions set to the drive/ folder.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to set provide permission of the folders to users and check if it helps.

Steps to give permissions to the drive:

  Right-click on the folder which you’re unable to access and select
  Properties.
  
• 
  Click on Security tab and under
  Group or user names click on Edit.
  
• 
  Click on Add and type
  Everyone.
  
• 
  Click on Check names and then click
  OK.
  
• 
  Select Everyone and under
  Allow select Full control and click on
  Apply and Click Ok.
