Windows 10: i CANNOT ACCESS MY BACKUP DRIVE AND RECEIVE ERR 0X80070016 USING WIN 11

When trying to add a folder to a shared drive in win 11 I receive the error 0x80070016

How in WIN 11 do I change the drive letter of the CD/ROM drive?

So this is what worked, step by step.

Reboot

Drive is listed as E: in file explorer.

Drive not listed in Disk Management.

Insert DVD, it plays after short pause.

Disk management now shows Audio CD as E:

Right click, change letter to R: (while playing!)

Reboot.

Drive now shows as BD-RE drive as R: in File Explorer.

The bottom line is

- File Explorer does not provide for changing drive letter afics.

- Disk Management seems to need a disk to be in the drive for it to "see" the drive. I can't recall is this is Win 10 behaviour

I don't recall having any difficulty with this in Win 10 (its possible that the Win 10 default drive allocation was "after" my external drives; or I "just changed it").

Switching from Win 10 to Win 11

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be getting new MB and CPU when I move to Win11. And I always do system volume image backups after I successfully update Windows so no problem there *Smile. Cheers!

You'll notice that there's an issue for your Nvidia driver (lots of 'Not added' reports) I expect there will be more drivers listed similarly if you care to look. There are instances of very strange characters suggesting corruption, unless you have an explanation:



I also saw some that looked Arabic.

Exclude pattern skipped because enumeration root is not present - many many instances. I don't know what your drivers file is, sorry- no extension... how did you create it? Thanks.
