Windows 10: I cannot access my old word files

    I cannot access my old word files


    I have a new MacBook Pro 2022. My old Macbook Pro 2014 had Microsoft for Mac installed and I used quite a bit Word. Unfortunately I was misguided by Apple Support, I download "supposedly" all my computer into an outside drive, erased with their assistance my entire old computer. Register to Microsoft 365, but now I cannot find my old Word files. I need to find my files from my old Microsoft account. Please help!

    I am working in Windows 10 home version 1909.
    Can not afford an upgrade.
    My Office files are old, dont know what version.
    Cant remember how I updated this laptop to Windows 10 months ago.
    PROBLEM:
    I can not open any of my Office files; Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
    I looked for my Windows old file as suggested, and it IS gone.
    Haveing a small breakdown, will step away and return in a few...ANY DIRECTIONS AND ANSWERS WOULD BE GREAT!!!!!! PLEASE WRITE THEM IN STEP BY STEP FORMAT. Thankyooouuuuuuuu!

    You can open old Office files with these settings | PCWorld

    Maybe the steps here will let you open your old office files?

    Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    I would appreciate if you could answer few questions to narrow down to the issue.

    1. Was it an upgrade or update?


    2. When you say Word, is it Microsoft word or word pad?


    3. Which version of Microsoft Word are you using?

    4. Which was the previous Operating system installed on the computer?

    If you had performed an upgrade, I suggest you to check Windows .Old folder for the missing documents.

    Windows. Old folder will be located in This PC > access the drive where Operating System has been installed, there you would be able to locate Windows. Old folder.
