I cannot add "More pins" to my Start menu as included in build 22509 — how do I access this?

I have a brand new MSI Stealth laptop running a fully updated version of Windows 11. As I understand it, Window 11 22H2 includes a feature in which you can select "More pins" on the start menu, like so.More specifically, I have read that it needs to be build 22509. I am on 21H2 OS Build 22000.1098 and cannot see a way to update further. As a result, the registy entry "Start_Layout" which I would hope to find under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced" is missing.I do not know enough to progress past this point, but I am very keen to get this func

  2. How to pin shortcut to start menu.

    Hi,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

As per the description, I understand that you would like to know how to pin short cut to start menu.

I would suggest you to refer to the article given below if you are using Windows 7.

Pin a program to the Start menu

    Windows help & learning

And if you are using Windows 10 then I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below.

    Pin apps to Start

Pin the apps you use most often to the Start menu. Here's how:

    • Go to Start > All Apps.
    • Press and hold (or right-click) an app.
    • Select Pin to Start.

Hope this helps. Please let us know the results. We will be happy to assist you further.

Where do you find the list of items pinned to the start menu?

A reasonable 'guess' following a couple of simple experiments suggests the registry:

I cannot add "More pins" to my Start menu as included in build 22509 — how do I access this? [IMG]

    - note the name there.

    - unless the data is held where access is restricted e.g. the WindowsApps folder.

Pin to start menu icon cache

Are you able to pin It to the start menu with the new icon because for me it shows up in the programs list and everywhere else as changed and new it’s just when pinned to start

just want to clarify. In all locations including start menu all programs and in control panel and everywhere ! Except for when you pin it to the start menu. Right clicking the shortcut and click pin to start or search and pin to start, that’s the only place I don’t see it... can you pin it to start menu where the tiles are and show me how it looks? In your screenshot I get the same result and it works it’s really when you “pin to start menu” where the tiles are.
