Windows 10: I cannot email from MS Word or Excel 2010 = MAPI failure

Discus and support I cannot email from MS Word or Excel 2010 = MAPI failure in Microsoft Office and 365 to solve the problem; This has happened after I upgraded to Windows 10.     I cannot email from MS Word or Excel 2010 = MAPI failure


    This has happened after I upgraded to Windows 10. The help section tells me to associate Word & Excel with a mail program but doesn't tell me how to do that. I am using Windows 10 mail app. I know I can go into settings to associate files with programs but I don't know what files to associate with what program. I can't find another free email program that works well with Windows 10. Their own mail app has a lot of problems. Can anyone help me out?

    Mapi stopped working in Outlook 2010 after performing Fall 2017 creators update.

    I cannot send email using word, snipping tool, quickbooks, excel, nothing.

    I tried repairing the outlook 2010 application, and it did not help.

    email error

    I am using Office 10 Outlook and as of about 2 weeks ago can no longer email from any other Microsoft program, like Word, Excel or Publisher. I get the message that "cannot send mail because of MAPI failure. Operation not supported ". How can I fix this.
    This is messing up my business big time!

    As far as I know, the W10 Mail app does not support this function. You would need to use Outlook 2010 Mail which does support the MAPI protocol.

    Thank you. Outlook did not come with the Home User version in 2010. Can you use it with Outlook on the Internet or with Windows Live Mail?

    I have a feeling Windows Live Mail will work but I have not tried it myself.

    Sorry for the delay. I have been in the hospital. First I followed the steps in the following article according to the mail app I am using. The new Windows mail app will not work with MS Office. You need a mail app that has MAPI. I'm using WIndows Live Mail because its free. Outlook did not come with the home version of Office 2010 that I have. Fix MAPI errors

    After following the above steps I followed the steps in this article:



    Windows Live Mail and Outlook Mail

    I can now email from Word & Excel. I hope this helps!
