Windows 10: I cannot install the DELL SUPPORT ASSISTANT

Upon downloading and installing the DELL SUPPORT ASSISTANT on my DELL OPTIPLEX 3010, it returns with a non-informative vague error message that it is unable to install it. You would think DELL would be more specific what the issue is but they're not.My PC is running fine but I thought it would be a good idea to have DELL's software analyze it.FYI, I have never updated the 2013 BIOS.Thanks,Dan

Part of Support Assist is used in the POST (Power On Self Test). The error codes that are generated if there is an error are generated by Support Assist. You don't want it completely gone. Just disabling startup in Windows "tames it". If you want to uninstall it, do it with the Windows uninstaller and it will leave the POST part intact (what it does from reports on the Dell support forums). I have to agree. I've seen far more posts here and elsewhere where Dell Support Assist has been the cause rather than the solution of Dell device issues. I'm now a Dell-only Windows (and Linux) user and don't have Dell Support Assist on any of my many devices.
