Windows 10: I cannot logout of Microsoft Store

    I cannot logout of Microsoft Store


    I recently got a new computer for Christmas and I set up the computer with my main email. I logged into Microsoft store with my main email forgetting that all of my apps are on my secondary email, so I tried to log out of my main email. I click my icon, a window pops up, I click log-out, and the window closes. I click on the account to see that I'm still logged in and and I redo the process to no avail. Can someone tell me why this is happening or how to fix it?

    I'm not really sure what the exact nature of your problem is but you need a Microsoft account setup on the phone to be able to access the store and download apps. The same account is also used to backup content on the phone to your MS account online such
    as contacts, pictures & videos (Skydrive), messages and applications list & data.



    As Farby suggested, you can tell the phone not to sync emails from this MS account if you want but you cannot remove your MS account for the above stated reasons.

    I understand that you are unable to use Microsoft Store. We will look into this. Please reply to the following questions:

    • Is the Norton Antivirus still installed on the system?

    We are unable to see the screenshot that you have included, I would suggest you to share the screenshot again so that we can view it for you. Please refer
    how to include a screenshot in your postto
    upload the screenshot.

    Note: Make sure you don’t capture any personal information while taking the screenshot.


    If Norton Antivirus is still installed, I suggest you to disable Norton Antivirus and check if you are able to open Microsoft Store. Please follow the steps from

    Turn off Norton     to disable Norton Antivirus.

    Note: If you disable the security software, the system might be temporarily exposed to security threats and risks. Please make sure to turn it on after performing the steps.

    In the meantime, you can follow the steps mentioned below:

    Method 1: Fix Store launch

    I suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps from the article
    Microsoft Store doesn't launch    .

    Method 2: Sign out and sign in to Store

    1. Type Store in the search bar on the
      Taskbar.
    2. Select the Store icon from the search result.
    3. Click on the ellipsis on the top right corner of the window.
    4. Logout from the Store and login with the same
      Microsoft account.

    I see what you mean about the password but i think its a backward step to compromise my Microsoft password to to use the app store
