I cannot play back my 4k Blu-Ray even though I have an SGX-capable CPU in my computer

I purchased my computer in 2021, and specifically got one with a 10th-Generation Intel CPU in it, which still supported SGX. I purchased CyberLink PowerDVD Ultra, a compatible Blu-Ray Ultra drive, and was able to play the new 4k Lord of the Rings on my computer. However, ever since last year, Windows seems to have broken all SGX support, and my computer no longer plays back my Blu-Rays, nor shows any support for SGX. What happened, and what do I need to install/uninstall in order to make this work? This worked out of the box affecting my buying decision, but then was broken months after the f

  2. 4K UHD Blu Ray Playback Question?.

No DVD player can play Blu-Ray discs. The player MUST be a Blu-Ray player specifically. Note that Blu-Ray players can also play DVDs, but not the other way around. A Blu-Ray has a totally different laser, or more accurately, it has an additional laser that allows it to read Blu-Ray discs. One laser is used for CDs and DVDs, another for Blu-ray discs. Data on a Blu-Ray disc is packed far denser than on a DVD and requires a different wavelength of light to read. Thus the name "Blu-ray", because it uses a blue laser rather than red. As for the dedicated Blu-Ray player, the issue with 4K discs is simply that they have different encoding which your player does not understand. The software that you were looking at is simply a software application that allows you to play a Blu-Ray disc, but it still requires a physical Blu-Ray player. Windows has no built-in Blu-ray player software, so even if you have a Blu-ray drive, you will also need a Blu-ray player software application to play the discs. EDIT: One more point - On a PC, you don't need a 4K Blu-ray player specifically. The physical data is stored the same on a standard Blu-ray disc and a 4K disc. The Blu-ray player software that you use simply needs to be 4k capable. In other words, it needs to understand how to handle the data it is reading from the disc. On a dedicated Blu-ray player for your TV, the software is built into that device, so if that software is not able to understand the information on a 4k disc, it won't know what to do with what it is reading, although there is no physical reason it should not be able to read that disc.

  3. SGX?

I have software that plays UHD Blu-ray discs. It's called Cyberlink PowerDVD 21 Ultra.

I ordered a UHD optical drive. It's on its way.

My PC is old but is still operating Windows 10 just fine. My processor is an i7 3rd Gen.

My video card is a GTX 960

Is this true about me playing UHD Blu-ray discs?

Does my CPU need to support SGX which is some security extension? What do you know about SGX and does my CPU need it for UHD Blu-ray playback?

    THANKS!!

10th gen SGX Media PC unable to play UHD-Blu Rays (Help needed)

Ok I can't help you I had to use sgx for something other than uhd player software, I had favorited this video. Maybe don't use Intel's latest drivers and utility: "(...)and support for SGX may be removed at some point on the new versions of Intel drivers or utility programs (e.g., the Intel SGX and Intel Management Engine driver and firmware)..." Customer Support - Why can’t I play Ultra HD Blu-ray movies on my new Intel CPU (11th generation or above) platform that does not support Intel SGX feature? Why are Ultra HD Blu-ray discs no longer playable after related Intel drivers and the Windows OS were updated on older platforms that support the Intel SGX feature? | CyberLink
