  2. Microsoft Video Editor - Recovering Backed Up Video Project

Hello! My name is Mostafa; I will assist you today.

I’m sorry that you are experiencing this issue. Please follow the steps below:

    1. Open the Video Editor app.

    2. Click on “New project”.

    3. Click on “Open project”.

    4. Browse to the location where you saved your backup file.

    5. Select the backup file and click on “Open”.

    6. This should open your backed-up project in the Video Editor app.

    1. Open File Explorer and navigate to the folder where you backed up your video project.

    2. Look for files with the project file extension used by Microsoft Video Editor.

If you're unable to find the project file, there might be a possibility that the backup process didn't complete successfully or the file got corrupted.

If you have any auto-saved versions of the project, you might find them in the "AutoRecover" folder. You can access this folder by going to the following path in File Explorer: "%AppData%\Microsoft\Video Editor\AutoRecover".

I hope this help. Thank you.

  3. Microsoft Video Editor - Recovering Backed Up Video Project

Based on the screenshots you provided, it appears that the "Recover Project" option is not available in the current version of Microsoft Video Editor.

    Please try the following steps:

    1. Close Microsoft Video Editor if it's currently open.

    2. In File Explorer, navigate to the location where you saved the backup file for your video project.

    3. Identify the backup file, which seems to be named "Anniversary Project.msvd.bak" based on your screenshot. Please note that the ".bak" extension indicates that it is a backup file.

    4. Right-click on the backup file and select "Copy" from the context menu.

    5. Navigate to a location on your computer where you want to restore the project.

    6. Right-click in the destination folder and select "Paste" to copy the backup file to this location.

    7. After the file is copied, rename the file by removing the ".bak" extension from the file name. It should now have the ".msvd" extension.

    8. Double-click on the renamed project file. This action should open the Microsoft Video Editor and load the recovered project.

If you still have issues, it might be deleted by the software; you try to use 3rd party recovery app.

I cannot save my project using Windows Video Editor.

    Video Editor

I am using MS Video Editor and am working on a project that has both videos and .jpg pics. When I went to open the editor, the project would load, it shows the pics and videos I have loaded into the project, but the Storyboard wouldn't load. It looks
like the app is trying to load the storyboard, but after a few minutes, the app shuts down. I followed the steps online to repair and reset and have now lost my work, but I want to be sure the app is working properly and there are no issues with it before
I start and rebuild the project. Also, the app autosave my work, where does it put the saved Storyboard file?
