I cannot send file form my phone with Bluetooth to my PC, but I can receive file with my phone from my pc.

How can I receive files via Bluetooth without first requesting to receive them?

I have found that to receive files on my PC, I must first right-click the Bluetooth icon in the taskbar and select "Receive a file".





Then I can send the files from the phone by selecting `Share > Bluetooth > [PC Name], and they will begin to transfer.

If I try to send a file from phone to PC without first choosing to receive a file on the PC, the phone quickly shows that the transfer was unsuccessful

Is there any way for me to either:

1. Send files from a phone and have them automatically received without confirmation on the PC?
   
2. Send files from a phone and then accept to receive them on the PC
   afterward?
   

I know that with my previous PCs, I could simply send files from any of my Android phones by selecting Share > Bluetooth > [PC Name] and at then the PC would show a dialog asking if I want to receive the file(s). After confirming, the transfer would begin. I don't fully grasp what made them different, as I didn't personally install anything bluetooth related on them.

 

Unable to Send or Receive a file using Bluetooth in Windows 10

Sharing and receiving files over Bluetooth is a little different on Windows 10.

  To send or receive a file using Bluetooth, the receiving device must ready to accept the file. Simply go to
  Settings > Devices >
  Bluetooth > Send or receive files via Bluetooth, and follow the instructions on the screen. Alternatively you can select “Receive a File” to wait for a connection. On the receiving
  device, click on the Bluetooth icon in the notification area (the bottom corner of the taskbar), and select
  Receive a File.

  Then from the sending device, you can right-click on the file itself and select
  Send to > Bluetooth Device, and follow the instructions on the screen. If the sending device is a Windows phone you simply choose the file and select
  Share > Bluetooth and select the name of the receiving device. Remember if it’s a Windows 10 PC you will need to make sure it’s set to receive per above.

can't transfer files between laptop and phone over BT

To transfer files from the phone to the laptop you must first set up the laptop so it is waiting to receive files. In Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices:

1. Turn on Bluetooth
2. Click on 'Send or receive files via Bluetooth'
3. Click 'Receive files'

When you send a file to the laptop it then ask you to choose where to save it.
