Windows 10: I cannot sign in with my pin and the reset password link does NOT work

I JUST got a new laptop for christmas and i cannot figure out this stupid PIN, ive been sobbing for two hours trying to find any kind of help on this god forsaken microsoft website and NOTHING will help. Nothing has been useful and i keep going in complete loops with all the stupid links it takes me to. Whenever it says i have the option to reset my pin on the website, it says hey no actually! You can only reset your microsoft account PASSWORD. NOT THE PIN, there is literally no agents i can talk to this is so stupid. There needs to be more support options i literally cannot do ANYTHING, i mad

Forgotten PIN and expired password

Thanks for your answer.

I tried steps of both links:

• #1: reset PIN code
  
  • I see no link "reset your PIN"on login page --> I can't reset it
    
• #2: change or reset windows password
  
  • My Windows account is not displayed at all on login page.
    
  • I am using a local account
    

If you have any other suggestion, I would be more than happy to try.

Remove sign in pin

I suggest you to follow the below steps to remove the sign in pin/password options.

• In the search box type sign-in-option.
• Click on the sign-in-option.
• Then you can find password/pin/picture password.
• There you can remove the option and check.

Windows 10 password pin stopped working

Hi,

To better assist you, please answer the following questions:

• Are you able to start up your device up to the desktop screen?
• After doing the password reset, what error message are you getting?
• Are you able to log in to your account using a password instead of a pin?

In the meantime, if you are able to start up your device up to the desktop screen you may follow the steps to Remove Pin:

Go to Settings.

Under Accounts, click on Sign in options and select
Remove PIN.

After removing your PIN (this will require your password to do this), then you may click
Add PIN. Follow the steps to add a PIN.

NOTE: You may use the same PIN you have been using.

After doing so, log out of your account and sign back in using your PIN.
