I cannot transfer .NEF files out from my Nikon D850 camera through USB cable connection to my new laptop running Windows 11: 1. I have installed latest Nikon NEF Codec on this Windows 11 computer.2. When I connect D850 camera through USB cable to the computer, the D850 folder show up in File Explorer. 3. When I click on the D850 folder in File Explorer to view files, it becomes very very slow: it take several seconds to add one new file in the display.4. Try to copy a file from D850 file folder and paste to another folder in File Explorer, it will stay in "copying" state for a while a

Cannot delete NEF files

Same here, but I'm using a D3, with 25 MB NEF files. (Yes, I'm going to upgrade this year.)

As a Nikon camera shooter who shoots only shoots RAW (NEF) I have absolutely no issue deleting them off my PC. And there are no special procedures to do so. I shot with a Nikon D800E (36.3 megapixel files) and a D850 (45.7 megapixel files).

No issue whatsoever deleting these files from anywhere.

Anyway the OP's post seems to be a re-hash of the same thread here - Cannot delete Raw files

 

Unable to show .nef thumbnails on windows 10

When going to any folder with .nef files, from my nikon d850, no thumbnails are shown. I have tried:

Click on View tab and check if the below options are checked:

• Display file icon on thumbnails
• 
  Show preview handlers in preview pane.
  

d. Uncheck the below options:

• 
  Always show icons, never thumbnails
  
• 
  Always show menu
  

e. Enable or disable any other options you wish to make changes on by checking and unchecking the adjacent option boxes.

f. Click on Apply and OK.

This did nothing.

I can see the .nef files from all of my older cameras like the d750.
