    I cannot turn on my Real-time protection.


    I have been seeing a pop-up regarding "Your Windows security is off" for quite some time now and when I go to turn it on, it says that its unable to turn back on and says " Your using another anti virus software" but I am not. I have no other anti virus other than Microsoft Windows Defender. I am starting to think I am getting hacked or I am already hacked because my laptop is acting wierd these past few days as it switches off abruptly and also its lagging way too much I have some battery issues also because of changing my region from India to Germany, I think it has got something to do wit

    I did all the step and delete the MsMpEng.exe but still it doesn't turn on Real Time Protection any suggestion please??

    Hi Rahul,

    If you have Windows 10, you are getting the latest antivirus protection with Windows Defender. Windows Defender actively helps in protecting your PC from malware (malicious software), viruses, and security threats. Windows Defender uses real-time protection.

    To turn Windows Defender real-time protection on or off, follow the steps below:

    • Select the Start button, then select Settings >
      Update & Security.
    • Select Windows Defender, then turn Real-time protection
      on or off.
    If the on /off button is greyed out, refer to the answer of José Antonio
    Pontón Posada CEO on this thread for troubleshooting steps.
