    So recently I've purchased a "new" computer, I installed windows on it.. yada yada,Here's the problem:I use my phone's personal hotspot, because it is better than my home wifi, and when I use the 5ghz band it connects without a problem on my previous computer, but on this one it doesn't even detect it!I've searched far and wide and it appears I'm the only one with this kind of a problemI have followed all of the guides available here and on some other websites, but to no avail.I've installed all of the necessary drivers and I even checked my supported radio types using"netsh wlan show drivers"

    Check to see if that hotspot is set up as 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz on your Phone

    Then if that is 5Ghz, you need to check to see if your WiFi card supports that . . .

    Open Device manager, expand the Network Adapters section, what WiFi card is listed in that section?

    Windows 10 5GHz Mobile Hotspot Option

    Hi Richard,

    What I am doing is trying to create a 5GHz hotspot on my desktop WiFi card, that does support 5GHz, to my smart tv that also supports 5GHz. The only connection I have going to my router is my desktop through a Ethernet cable. From this theoretical setup,
    everything should work; but the windows mobile hotspot software is not letting me set up a 5GHz hotspot on my desktop.
