Windows 10: I cannot verify my identity, Outlook wont give me a code and ive never had authenticator so...

I need assistance getting into my account. I just updated the bios on my computer and now it is forcing me to reset my pin. In order to reset my pin i have to login to my microsoft account, which would not be a big deal as I do know my password but now it is forcing me to verify my account using the Authenticator app. I have never once had the authenticator app so it too is asking me to verify with the authenticator app which I can not get into. It says I can use outlook so I try that and low and behold it doesnt give me a damn code. No email, no pop up, no tab to click for getting verificatio

where can I get the bar code for microsoft authenticator?

Go to
https://account.microsoft.com/

At the top choose Security and Privacy

Under Account Security choose More Security Settings

Scroll down for the following

Your account is protected by two-step verification.

• Turn off two-step verification
  

You've set up an authenticator app.
Learn more about identity verification apps.

Before you can set up an identity verification app, you need to add another phone number or alternate email address, or verify an existing one.

• Set up identity verification app
  
• Turn off existing apps

Choose Set Up identity verification app which will give you the barcode/secret code you need to get your authenticator app going.

Be sure to verify the pairing was successful by entering the code generated on the newly setup app.

Verify your identity on this pc, no code sent to e-mail?

In case this helps anyone... I have a Microsoft Account which is set up for 2-step authentication using the Authenticator app on my smartphone. When I installed, W10 it asked me for an authenticator code at initial setup, but once I'd done that it seems to have been happy since and hasn't asked me to verify.
