    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

  3. Three dvd drives using windows 10

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your concern in Microsoft Community and welcome to the Windows 10 Family.

We appreciate you for the time and effort and time you have put in to resolve the issue. I would like to assist you further from here.

From the description provided, I understand that one of the DVD drives installed on your computer is not detected by Windows.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps, to ascertain the exact issue in this situation.

    Step 1

Access the BIOS of the computer and check if all the DVD drive is detected. However, if it doesn't, then Windows will not be able to detect the same.

Note: Refer to the manufacturer's manual and check for further information.

    Step 2

Open the Disk Management Console to find out if the third drive has no drive letters assigned to it, as a result of which it is not detected. Follow the below steps.

    • Right click on the Windows Start Button.
    • Select Disk Management from the User Menu.
    • Check for the DVD drives.
    • Assign a drive letter for the DVD drive if it is not assigned any.
    Step 3

Check if the DVD drive is detected from the
Device Manager and check if there is a yellow triangle next to it. Follow below.

    • Right click on the Windows Start Button.
    • Select Device Manager from the User Menu.
    Step 4

Check the drive detected properly if you restart the computer ion Safe Mode.

    Safe Mode With Networking:

Follow the steps to boot to safe mode with networking:

    • Press the ‘Windows + R’ key on the keyboard.

    • In the ‘Run’ windows type ’MSCONFIG’ and click ‘Ok’.

    • Click the ‘Boot’ tab.

    • Under ‘Boot Options’, select the ‘Safe Boot’ option.

    • Choose the type of safe mode by selecting one of the options below the Safe boot check box: Select ‘Network’.

    • Click OK and then restart your PC.
Additionally, also refer to the below link on
Your CD or DVD drive is not recognized by Windows or other programs

I can't access DVD drives in windows 10

Windows 7 Professional keeps dropping the DVD/CD drive

Working with a fresh install (2nd attempt) of Windows 7 Professional on new hardware. The motherboard is a Gigabyte EP45-UD3P. Running 4G of RAM and an Intel Q9400 Quad Core CPU. The DVD/CD optical drive is a Pioneer DVR-218L.

Here's the problem - after two fresh installs, Windows 7 drops the DVD/CD drive and I get the following error in Device Manager (The device cannot start {code 10}). After the install, the drive works for a period of time, then stops working and I get the error code.

The driver appears to be a standard Windows driver (CD-ROM driver).

I've tried uninstalling the drive and re-installing it in Device Manager but it does not work - I continue to get the device error.

I've also swapped out the DVD/CD drive to insure it's not a bad unit. Same problem with both drives.

What do you suggest for next steps?? Could it be an issue with the motherboard?? A driver problem?

I visited the Pioneer web site - could not find any help or additional Windows 7 drivers.

    What now??
