Windows 10: I can't access installed programs on my SSD External Hard Drive

I own a laptop with Windows 10, on which I use an external 1TB SSD hard drive. I've always installed all my programs on this drive, and it has worked properly for the past few years. However, today, out of nowhere, those programs became inaccessible. I can open files videos, images, and folders, but when it comes to opening installed programs mostly games and launchers, it just doesn't allow me. The error message depends on the program; some say the disk is not valid, while others claim that the disk is unavailable.I've already tried to open the disk preferences and gave access to 'Everyon

Uninstall and reinstall the external hard drive program.

• In the Settings app, go to System.
• Go to Apps & features and locate the external hard drive program.
• Uninstall the program and go to the manufacturer's website to reinstall the updated version.

Uninstall and reinstall the Paragon driver software.

• Following the same steps mentioned above, locate the software in Apps & features
  and uninstall it.
• After uninstalling the software, go to the manufacturer's website to reinstall it.

Free hard drive backup/restore program?

I am looking for a free (freeware) program that will back up and restore a hard drive. I'm looking to clone a few external hard drives. If the program will backup the used space instead of the whole drive this will be awesome! Thanks for any suggestions.
