Windows 10: I can't access the encrypted folder and its files error 0x80071771

I encrypted the folder using the Windows on this Laptop, I had to reset everything so I copied the folder to my USB.

But after I reset my computer and I tried to access the folder it was giving me this error every time, can someone help?


When I try to open images it just appears black, when I try to play any audio in the encrypted folder it gives the error 0x80070005


The folder isn't damaged, I know that much, and I don't think I put any key on the encryption. I just pressed on encrypt and then closed the folder. I didn't really pay attention to anything, is it still possible for me to access my important files?

Hi Iman,

Error message 0x80071771 means that you need to restore the file encryption key in order for you to decrypt the encrypted files. On the other hand, you can still try these steps and see if it will work:

• Right-click the file or folder that you want to decrypt.
• Click File ownership and click Personal.

Lost encryption key error 0x80071771

I recently re-installed Windows 10 Pro due to having my previous install corrupt on me. One of my directories has all of it's files encrypted and whenever I try to open a file or folder within the directory I get error 0x80071771, is there anyone to open
my files or unencrypt them or better yet get rid of this error?
