  2. Can't change priority in Task Manager

Here is something which might help:

Unable To Change Process Priority On Windows 11 22H2 - Super User

Changing the priority in Task Manager may not stick for several reasons, mostly if the executable restarts itself. It then loses all attributes and starts again with the default ones.

To permanently set the priority of a process, do this :

    • Find the name of the executable, say PROGRAM.EXE
    • Create a Text Document with .reg extension and enter the following:

    • Replace PROGRAM.EXE with your application and change the PRIORITY to one of the following values:

    • Double-click to execute the .reg file and click Yes and then OK
To undo this change, delete the registry key that you added.

In addition to the CpuPriorityClass value, also exists IoPriority with the same numerical values as above, except that 0 stands for Very Low and the values 5 and 6 don't exist.

reset process priority on task manager

Why do you think a Process you see in Task Manager is not running at it's default priority?

Give an example of a Process you think is not running at it's default priority, what is the priority you see in Task Manager and what you think the default priority should be for that Process.

How do you think the priority of the Processes get changed from their default state?

If you changed the priority why don't you just change the priority of the Process back to what it was before?

If you change a Process priority in Task Manager, Task Manager isn't going to remember what the priority was before you changed it.

Just change it back to what it was before (undo the change) or restart the system and things will be back to normal.

You can use the instructions in this link to include a screenshot with some examples of the issue:

    Cannot change game priority

Hello , sorry about your problems. My name is Marco and I will do my best to help you.

Right-click on the Taskbar and select Task Manager. In the Task Manager window, click on "More details" if it's not already expanded.

Then, click on "File" in the top-left corner and select "Run new task." In the "Create new task" window, check the box next to "Create this task with administrative privileges" and type "taskmgr" in the "Open" field.

Click "OK" to open a new Task Manager instance with administrative privileges.

Then, go to the "Details" tab. Find the process related to your game, right-click on it, and select "Set priority." Choose the desired priority level, such as "High" or "Above normal."

Keep in mind that changing a system priority can cause your computer to freeze or crash, so be cautious when making these changes.
