  1. I can't change into administrator settings after hiding my account using the regedit method...

Hi. I was experimenting hiding accounts, trying to hide my standard one, and it ended up hiding my administrator one, and now I can't get back to it since I can't access the codes that administrators use. When I try on my standard account to use edit regedit, it says 'cannot edit' and when I try to open administrator settings, this page pops up and asks me if I want to allow my computer to make changes to my device. Underneath the description, it says that i need to enter the admin username and password but there is no icon to type anything. There is just a 'no' button. Is there any way to tur

Settings can't be opened using the built-in administrator account

    Hello,
Unfortunately I have the same issue as Dabz from upgrading win7 to win10.
I've tried opening settings using all the suggested methods and it will not load using my account with Administrator access nor the built-in Administrator profile. I also tried other methods not listed such as using Run. Control panel is just a stepping stone to add users in Settings.
I'm also having explorer.exe issues, which I believe is preventing Settings from loading.
Using cmd (Admin) I successfully created a new user profile [and granted admin access also using cmd (Admin)], however win10 will not allow this account to log on. win10 does not list this new user within control panel but it does in the start menu. win10 will not allow to log in or switch to the new account via the start menu either.
I can access settings in Safe Mode but this will not allow me to create a new account.
Any help/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers

  3. Settings can't be opened using the built-in administrator account

    Hi guys

I have same issue in safe boot mode with networking!

First of all it blocks the networking

    Then states:

Settings cant be opened using the built in administrator account sign in with different account and try again.

Yet clicking on windows i opens settings fine

It also states broadband blocked, yet I can happily get on the net but at first I couldn't.

When I asked about it the guy from Microsoft tech answers couldn't understand why I wanted to use safe boot mode with networking????????

After he did nothing to help but emailed some scripts which didn't refer to safe mode. I rebooted and suddenly safe mode with networking worked with the net but windows 10 still claims broadband is blocked!

Im also still getting the message on trying to unblock broadband:

cant be opened using the built in administrator account sign in with different account and try again.

    What is going on there?

    How to change Administrator Account

    Hi, Optimusprimally,

    Method 1:

To change the administrator account, first create a new account.

After creating a new account, change the administrator account. To change the account, please try this steps:

    1. Press the Windows key or click on Windows icon.

    2. Click on Settings.

    3. Click on Account.

    4. Now click on Family and other users.

    5. Click on the user account you are willing to change.

    6. There you will find an option to change the account type. Click on it and make it to administrator account.

To remove your account, follow this steps:

    • Press the Windows key or click on Windows icon.

    • Click on Settings.

    • Click on Account.

    • Now click on Family and other users.

    • Click on the user account you are willing to remove.

    • Click on Delete account and data for confirmation.

Note: Before deleting your account, please change the new user account type to administrator.

    Method 2:

Press Winkey + R to open Run Box

Type Netplwiz > Press Ok or Enter

You will see a User Account box listing all users on the system

Click on the Existing Administrators Account > Select Properties

You will see Group Membership Options where you may make the current Administrator a Standard User

Before you Change Administrator, ensure you make one of the User accounts the Administrator Account

    Click Apply, Ok

Method 3: This does not work on Windows 10 Home Version

Press Winkey + R > to open Run Box

Type lusrmgr.msc > Press Ok or Enter

    New Dialog window appears

Click on Groups > Click on Administrators

    You will see Administrators listed

You can add an Administrator or You can remove one

Removing the current Administrator does not remove them from the device, just from the Administrator Group

    Click Remove

    Click Apply, Ok
