Windows 10: I can't change shellstyle.dll

    I can't change shellstyle.dll


    Hi there. I'm doing something where I turn my installation of Windows 10 into Windows 7 and so far I got pretty far but one problem: The shellstyle.dll is the windows borders for Windows and Windows 10 uses Acrylic Design. I try to change it so I get the smooth Aero Borders, but it says I have no access to change it. Can someone help so I can overwrite the permissions? I remember my brother used this thing from Microsoft that would give himself full access to restricted folders. I can't remember the name, but can some send help? It would really make my day!     DLL Missing


    The problem is, that the required DLL is not actually even listed there.
    There are just dozens of download adware links from the top to the bottom.

    Change DLL to Normal

    Hi,

    To further help you with your concern, please confirm if you accidentally opened all .dll files using Notepad. If you have accidentally set Notepad as the default program to open all .dll files, then follow these steps to revert back the changes.

    • Right-click on the Start button and select Control Panel.
    • Click on Programs.
    • Select Default Programs.
    • Choose the Associate a file type or protocol with a program link.
    • Scroll down the list and select a file type to be changed. Double click it and click on the
      Change Program button.
    • In the Open With window, it will show the recommended programs that can open the file type along with a list of other programs that can also open the file type. Select one of the programs listed and click
      OK.

    I actually posted the link for the "list of troubleshooting steps to resolve your boost_threads.dll problems" which is located half way down the page. I did not mean to promote any downloads.

    Why don't I just go back and indicate that on my original post? That way there's access to the 'step-by-step' instructions, which are accessed via those green 'plus' signs next to the topics.
