Windows 10: i cant connect to my house wifi.

It accepts the password but says “couldnt connect”. i gave up and tried using my hotspot and even that wont come up on my laptop settings now. I tried restarting the laptop itself, i tried restarting the network adaptor, i tried restarting the network, i tried the command prompt and device manager. Nothing works.

Hi, I wish to make an internet connection using our house wifi (virgin router - version not known) I have the wifi password, but when it comes to connect (password text box) I'm asked for the network security - why is this? It also is a problem as my landlady thinks it's the one on the bottom of the hub (it isn't) and as she is happy that all is well with her world , I'm stuck. Any suggestions? There are two passwords on the bottom of a typical router, one will be the WiFi key, the other is the Admin password for logging into the router and configuring it. The 'network security' you are being asked for when trying to connect is the WiFi key.

You may have an existing WiFi profile for that router with incorrect settings. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi. Click on Manage known networks.
