Windows 10: I can't find "advanced options"

Discus and support I can't find "advanced options" in Windows 10 Gaming to solve the problem; I can't find advanced options in apps. I'm trying to reset OneNote because it doesn't have stickers if you can offer advice on how to get stickers... Discussion in 'Windows 10 Gaming' started by Jessica Ari, Nov 20, 2024.

  1. I can't find "advanced options"

I can't find advanced options in apps. I'm trying to reset OneNote because it doesn't have stickers if you can offer advice on how to get stickers available in it that would be great too and everything online told me to go to apps, select the app I want to reset, and then click on advanced options and select reset, but I don't have advanced options! I follow the steps of apps>installed apps> and search "onenote" which brings up Microsoft OneNote en-us. From there, more options doesn't have any option for reset. I was able to repair it but that didn't fix the primary issue OneNote does

    :)

How does Windows boot to advanced recovery option e.g. command prompt?

    - that gives me a 454 'Unexpected error' This tells me that the BCD is partially corrupted.

    The commands: shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00
    or: %SystemRoot%\System32\Cmd.exe /c reagentc /boottore&shutdown /r /f /t 00
should boot into Recovery if everything is configured correctly.
FYI, If Windows is configured correctly:
    1. If Reagentc is disabled, you still can get into Recovery but with limited options.
    2. If Reagentc is enabled, you'll get all options.
    3. If you boot Windows using Recovery USB stick, You'll get into Recovery with couple of options missing.

Here's my suggestion if you want to try:
OPTION 1: Will save the trouble of re-install Windows.

    1. Download the image of my first 3 partitions (450MB Recovery, 100 MB EFI partition, and 16MB unformatted primary)
      EFI_Boot-00-00.7z - Google Drive
    2. Run Macrium and restore the image from step 1, overwriting your existing 1st three partitions, leaving C alone.
    3. Delete the 490MB Recovery partition.
    4. From Macrium, run fix boot problems.
    5. Reboot. Open Admin command prompt then run Reagentc /info to make sure that it is enabled. If not, enable it.
if failed to enable, reboot and try again.
OPTION 2: Assuming you've already had Windows backup with Macrium.

    1. Wipe out the first 5 parttiions. (450MB, 100MB, 16MB, C Drive, 480MB)
    2. Fresh install Windows 10
    3. Restore C drive from backup image, run fix boot problems
    4. repeat step 5 from OPTION 1 above.

Critical Service Failed - Automatic Repair and Advanced Options

    Update:
Tried the Repair disk. Still back to "Your pc ran into a problem", "Preparing automatic repair" followed by Advanced Options which have been tried again.

    Would anyone recommend:
    • bootrec.exe /rebuildbcd
    • bootrec.exe /fixmbr
    • bootrec.exe /fixboot

Otherwise, I have a bootable Win PE file waiting to be burned on to USB key, as suggested by other Forum user, but unsure what to do with it when (or if) it boots up the laptop.

No Troubleshot option in Advanced startup menu..

    Hello,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

It would be grateful if you can reply to this question in order to assist you further:

    • How exactly are you accessing the Advance boot option?
    • Are you using Windows 10 installation disk to access the Advance start up options or trying to access through Windows?

I suggest you to follow the below path and check if you are able to see the Troubleshoot option:

    • Open Settings, and click/tap on the
      Update & security icon.

    • Click/tap on
Recovery on the left side, and click/tap on Restart
now under Advanced startup. Check if you are able to view the
      Troubleshoot option.
Let us know the status of the issue. We will be glad to assist you with the issue.

    Thank you.
