I have tried many times to resolve this issue without success. Because I really need for this to happen, I am going to try again and explain the situation differently.Short explanation: I work from home, and I purchased the laptop for my job. Because I was in a hurry to get started, I used my husband's Microsoft account instead of creating a new account. Since I was not Microsoft savvy, instead of adding myself as a user, I added the laptop as another device on his account.Last year I tried to set the laptop up with its own Microsoft 365 business account and remove it from my husband's per

Microsoft Account on new laptop for husband

I used my Microsoft Account sign in info on another newer laptop for my husband. I had a hard time trying to remember his old sign in info and password. Couldn't get anything to work so I used mine thinking I could change it later--haven't been able
    to.

If two laptops have same acct info will both still get updates they need or just the one you sign onto first?

How do I redo sign info on husbands laptop? If I delete info on new laptop, does it then delete my original MS Account info on my 4 yr older laptop? I can't find any way to change or start over on this new laptop /account. I noticed when I booted
up my old laptop the next time, that for a while it had the same log in screen that I had just selected for his new laptop--but then it changed back to my original.

From what I have read, once MS Acct is "set up" you can't delete it--you can only add additional users? Thanks

Microsoft Account on new laptop for husband

    Andre,

Thank you for your reply. I have several concerns.
Glad to know account type does not affect getting updates. I wasn’t sure if once an update was done on the first laptop, did Microsoft know to do another update on another computer with same account name?

My husband is not “computer friendly”. This new laptop is another attempt to accomplish that. The previous account mentioned was never used—it came about during the setup of a previous computer purchase about 6-7 months ago
that had to be returned. It drove me crazy trying to set it up for him for about 3 days. Every time I turned it on, it ran for hours—doing more “updates”!! Never really got to use it and I’m not really sure we ever finished setting up Microsoft Account.

Since I used my info on new laptop, does that mean they are both administrator accts? That’s why I thought there might be confusion on updates.
My husband would probably prefer to see his own sign in info on the screen—not mine. We did set up a pin for him to use. But I had really hoped I could “start over” w MS Account setup for him.
Did I read somewhere that if you delete a MS Account, you have to contact Microsoft and wait for several weeks to set up the next one?

If he doesn’t end up using this laptop much, then I might end up using this one anyway—I like the backlit keyboard!

As for trying me to reset the password on his laptop, I don’t think so. I have tried a number of things, so not absolutely sure. I did try, today, to just change the name on my acct—to just our last name but I couldn’t get
it to do that. Probably should have been a nick name or alias anyway. So I gather it’s ok to have two computers that share the same MS Account?

    Thank You again

Windows 10 Mobile isn't picking up Outlook.com account

I upgraded my husband's Lumia 640 from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Mobile. His Outlook.com account isn't listed in Accounts under Settings in People and Calendar. I've been through all the steps to add an account, but the Outlook.com account still isn't
listed. Can anyone suggest a workaround for this problem?
