Windows 10: I can’t get rid of legal notice that appears at logon

Discus and support I can’t get rid of legal notice that appears at logon in Windows 10 Ask Insider to solve the problem; I added this myself via the registry just to test it out and see what it looked like.... Discussion in 'Windows 10 Ask Insider' started by /u/Skyboy91, Jul 2, 2022.

  1. I can’t get rid of legal notice that appears at logon

I added this myself via the registry just to test it out and see what it looked like.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

I left it enabled for a few days. After a week or so, I decided to remove the message. I went to legalnoticecaption and legalnoticetext and made sure both boxes were blank. But the message doesn’t disappear. It still appears when I log off. Even tried restarting. I also tried deleting the legalnoticecaption and legalnoticetext options. The message remains.

If I go into legalnoticecaption and legalnoticetext and put a new message in, that new message will appear. If blank them out again, the old message appears. I also did this on a friend’s pc on the same domain (same message and process) and the same thing is happening. How can I turn off the damn logon message for good?!?!??? Lol. I really don’t want to re-image the PCs for something so trivial.

  2. Notice of cookies and notice of privacy keep appearing on one website

When I open a website (Ancestry dot com), I get this:

Note: This site uses cookies as set out in our cookie policy. To change your preferences please go to our cookie
    policy
. By continuing to use our site, you agree to our use of cookies.

    AND

Note: Your privacy is our priority. See how we have updated our Privacy Statement and Terms
    & Conditions
. You can learn more here.

If I close them, they appear again as soon as I change pages.

This happens in Firefox, IE, and Chrome.

    I am using Win10 x64 pro.

On other sites I get a notice, accept it and never see it again.

I have tried cleaning out cache, cookies and set it up to accept 1st and 3rd party cookies, as well as session cookies. Nothing helps!

(On my Win7 x32 pro laptop, these notices do not appear).

What can I do to get rid of these notices?

Getting rid of password and/or logon screen

    Hello,

I recently asked this question so if asking again isn't OK, I apologize.

Anyway, I can't get rid of the logon screen in Win 10 so my PC can boot directly to the Win 10 desktop. I still need some help doing that. Here is what I have tried so far:

    A. I tried the two steps listed in "How to Bypass Windows 10 Password and Automatically Login". They didn't work.

    B. I tries using netplwiz but that was basically the same as "A" and it didn't work.

    C. I tried Password Refixer but it didn't work.

In trying to use the above methods I somehow ended up with a 2nd user. The problem is this: that user doesn't appear in My Users so I can delete it or doing something about it.

Having to type in a password every time an application or an update needs to restart my computer becomes very annoying after the first time or two. Also, I much prefer booting directly to my Win 10 desktop.

    TIS,

    kk
