Windows 10: I can't get the Microphone and Headphones on a wireless device to work at the same time.

I can't use wired headphones because I don't have access to any working ones currently. I have tried 3 different pairs of headphones/earphones Sony MDR-ZX770BN, RHA Trueconnect 1s and OTL TWS Earpods. Basically what happens is I can only use my mic and headphones at the same time when i change my output device to a "HeadSet" rather than the "Headphones", which drastically lowers sound quality. I used to be able to use it just fine but one say a few years ago I just couldn't anymore and I don't want to experience this issue anymore. I often call my friends on apps like discord or in game voic

My name is Carlo, I am also using Windows 10 and a community member like you.

let us work together to sort this out.

First, try to check if the headphone mic works with different device for us to check if the issue is with the computer or the headphone mic itself.

If the headphone mic wont work using different device means it is faulty.

If the headphone mic works using a different device proceed with the steps below.

Here's the steps you can try.

-Press Windows key + X

-Go to Settings

-Click Update and Security

-Click Troubleshooter then Additional troubleshooter.

-Look for Speech and run the troubleshooter.

Once done proceed with these steps.

-Press Windows key + X

-Go to Device Manager

-Expand the Sound and Video Game Controller

-Look for Audio driver that was installed

-Right click and Update

-Look for "Browse my computer for driver

-Let me pick drivers available drivers

-Choose an old driver and use it.

Connect the earphone and proceed with these steps.

-Go to Control Panel

-In Control Panel, select Large icons from the View by drop down menu.

-Select Sound.

-Select the Recording tab

-Right click and Show Disabled Device

-Right click the Headphone Microphone and click Enable.

-Right-click it again and select Set as Default Device.

-Right click Headphone Microphone and click Properties.

-Click the Levels tab, then drag the volume slider towards the largest value.

-Click OK

-Click Advance Tab

-Uncheck the box to "Allow application to take exclusive control on this device"

Turn on Microphone Privacy in each app.

Select Start > Settings > Privacy > Microphone . In Allow access to the microphone on this device, select Change and make sure Microphone access for this device is turned on.

Then, allow apps access to your microphone.

Once you've allowed microphone access to your apps, you can change the settings for each app.

Restart and check the Headphone Microphone.

If issue persist, let's download the updated driver.

What is the exact model of your computer?

To check the system model proceed with these steps.

-Press Windows key + R

-Type msinfo32 and hit enter.

-Look for the System Model and manufacturer post it here.

Headphone microphone not working.

Clicked on cog (its same with Mic in and Headphone)


Wrench (also same with headphone and Mic in)


This is all i know btw when i click headphone it says mic is unplugged and when i do Mic in it says speakers are unplugged and mic is on.

 

Headphone audio works but microphone doesnt work.

Please reply to the following questions to get a better understanding on the issue:

• Are you able to use any other microphone on the computer?
  
• Are you able to use the headphones microphone on any other computer?
  

However, you can follow the troubleshooting steps from the article
Fix microphone problems.

Also, you can follow the steps mentioned below to check if the Microphone is disabled:

1. Go to Settings >> Sound.
   
2. Go to Check Input Devices >> Manage Sound Devices.
   
3. Under Input Devices check if the device is Disabled.
   
4. For Eg: You might see Stereo Mix.
   
5. Click on Stereo Mix and click on
   Enable.
   
6. Now, test the Microphone and check if you are able to record audio.
