Windows 10: I cant go into fullscreen exclusive mode in some games and i cant figure out why.

When i star rust or moderwarfare 3 i cant go into Fullscreen exclusive mode. When i open rust fullescreen exclusive isnt an option. But when i play mw3 fullscreen exclusive is an option but it always reverts back to borderless.

DirectX 12 Exclusive Fullscreen with Different Aspect Ratio

Since Exclusive Fullscreen functionality is not a feature in DirectX 12, this creates a problem when playing games in a different Aspect Ratio than the display. I have a 16:9 Display, but I like to play games at 21:9 in Fullscreen Mode. DirectX 12 only allows the use of a different Aspect Ratio in Windowed Mode, which leaves my desktop visible in the background. We need a fix that will create the Letterbox black bars for different Aspect Ratios when playing in Borderless Window Mode.

 

Games crashing in fullscreen mode

Hi, I have a problem with all games on my PC for a while. Every time when I try to launch games in fullscreen, they crash and won't launch. I mask the problem with windowed mode (in windowed mode there is no problem) but it's annoying and fps drops down
in windowed mode.

I tried so many things - reinstalling display drivers, reinstalling all games and steam, some minor "fixes" that I found on the web, but nothing helps.

My PC specs:

• Windows 10 x64
• NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M
• Intel Core i7-6700HQ CPU

I really don't know what to do. I will be very happy if someone can help. Thank you!

 

Black Screen issue for Exclusive Fullscreen mode when exiting or Alt+Tab to Desktop after Anniversary Update

Hello, Pavan, I would like to add a few more details to this issue.

This seems to be an issue for multiple games running on exclusive fullscreen mode. Happens with Child of Light, Rocksmith, The Witcher, Resident Evil Revelations, World of Warships and a few others from what I could see. They all share the
same circumstances, and the only way to avoid this issue is to set the game to run on borderless fullscreen mode.

When stuck in this black screen, the only way out is to press ctrl+alt+del, and blindly go to the "change user" option ("down" and "enter" after pressing the combo). After logging back into Windows, the issue is gone. Another way of avoiding this issue is
to alt+tab from the game, exit it from the taskbar or forcefully killing the process.

I would like to say that this is a problem related only to Windows 10 Anniversary Update. This issue never happened before on previous Windows 10 builds and the reproduction rate of this issue is 100%. If you have an affected machine, this is going to happen
every time you exit an affected game. This seems to happen only to a handful of games, so keep that in mind.

Hopefully you can address this issue as soon as possible, because it is very frustrating.
