Windows 10: I can't install the latest Game Ready Driver from Nvidia App, what should I do?

After I've installed the latest version, there is no error message at all and the app prompts me to install the same version once again over and over again with no outcome. I've tried everything being also advised different methods but nothing works. What should I do?

Nvidia game ready driver won't install

Yet another PC problem. The latest Nvidia Game Ready driver won't install. I keep getting the message "installation can't continue; an error occurred". Tried everything I saw online and am wondering if my RTX 2060 is just too outdated. Can someone please help me? Can I even open Minecraft or Blender without anything else going wrong?

That’s good. I was thinking perhaps it was downloading the incorrect version.

If you install an older driver does the latest one then install?

You might have to reinstall an older driver via the device’s entry within device manager.

Right click device.

Choose update driver.

Choose ‘browse my computer for drivers’.

Choose ‘let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer’.

Choose the compatible hardware from the list, then choose next.

Choose one of the older drivers from the list shown, then click next.

This will then reinstall the driver.

Are you using any third party antivirus software? If yes then perhaps this is blocking the install.

There may also be a problem with that particular driver. Have you checked the nVidia forum?

 

Can't install Latest Nvidia Driver

Hi,

I'm having a problem installing the latest nvidia driver (456.71) on a clean install of Windows.

System specs are:

• Dell Precision T1600
• Windows 10 x64 version 2004 (build 19041.572) All updates applied.
• CPU: Intel Xeon E31270 @ 3.4 GHz
• 16 GB DDR3 RAM
• Nvidia GeForce GT 730 (Windows installed driver version 388.13)

I downloaded the driver from Nvidia and double clicked to launch. While doing a system compatibility check, I receive the message, "NVIDIA installer cannot continue. This NVIDIA is not compatible with this version of Windows. The graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware."

• I have tried unininstalling the windows installed nvidia drivers using DDU in Safe Mode as outlined here:

I was NOT connected to any networks when I then tried to install the new driver.

• I also tried modifying the nvaci.inf file as described in this video:

The problem with that was, I could only modify the very first line the video told me to. All the following lines to be modified did not exist.

So, I'm at a loss. It would be really nice to have this old machine completely up to date. Thanks in advance for any help.
